Girl Guide and Scout Associations
I have had the pleasure of speaking to Girl Guide and Scout Associations which have been very well received and increased their understanding of disability. The talks which I deliver to these associations are very similar to the talks which I give to schools, lasting approx 20 minutes, but they are more interactive. I fully understand that the children have been sitting down at school all day so I encourage them to take park in a quiz involving them to move about. I also introduce the children to do finger spelling, which helps them to think about the communication method which people with hearing problems may use
I used to be a Brownie and then a Guide so I took along my own Girl Guiding badges hoping to inspire them to keep working towards their badges.
A Brownie pack which I have recently visited, spent time the week before thinking of questions which they would like to ask me. This question and answer time was a great success as I was able to talk about aspects of my life which the really wanted to know about. As with all my talks I actively encourage questions.

Churches
I have enjoyed the opportunity of speaking to groups connected to churches, for example, Youth Clubs and House Groups. When speaking to these audiences not only do I cover general topics such as how I cope day to day with my disability but I also share my personal faith. I talk for 45 minutes but if this is too long, or too short, then I can adapt it to your needs.
My own church have always be extremely supportive of me and have made small changes in order to accommodate my needs. I can therefore talk about these which will help your church to become more aware and accessible.
